Is it scary?
Yes. It's scary!
-
But is it really scary?
That's actually up to you. The most difficult part of creating a haunt is to make something that will scare everyone, without offending or alienating anybody. This is much more difficult that you would ever imagine. We've done our best to provide a scary environment. However, if you come to our attraction with a bad attitude you probably aren't going to enjoy it nearly as much as someone who comes wanting to have fun with their friends.
-
How long does it take to go through?
It depends on how fast you run! Some groups can finish both haunts in just over 20 minutes, while others may take the better part of an hour to get through both. It really depends on how quickly your group moves, and if you decide to pass other groups or not (which is actually OK with us!). Be sure to include a 20-40 minute wait to get in on the busy weekends. You can avoid this long wait by coming to see Frightmare Forest early in the season.
-
The group in front of us is too slow, what should we do?
If given the opportunity, feel free to pass groups that are taking too long for your tastes. You will get a better show out of it, and you help us by keeping 'conga lines' to a minimum. There are several places in the haunt that are ideal for passing, so be sure to take every opportunity you get!
-
Can I wear a costume to the forest?
We ask that our guests do not wear a costume, masks, face paint, or anything that may cause other customers to mistake you for a Frightmare Forest Cast Member. This is for your safety, the safety of other customers, and the safety of our staff. It also helps our staff managers know who is an actor, and who is a customer. If you arrive with any of the restricted materials, you will be asked to remove them. Masks can be left at the concession stand a picked up as you leave. Face paint must be removed.
-
How is Frightmare Forest different from other haunted attractions?
We pride ourselves on originality. Many haunts use the same ideas, and buy the same props as everyone else in the industry giving them a very cliché "prepackaged haunted house" look. Our goal is to give people something they have NEVER seen before. We are constantly experimenting with new ideas, new fears, and new technology to provide a show that is not only scary, but an experience that will be remembered long after you've left the attraction.
-
Will the ghouls and monsters touch me?
Nope! Our acting staff is instructed to never touch a patron; unless you are extremely terrified and wish to be escorted out by hand (our cast pathways can get VERY dark!). Our security staff may have to touch unruly patrons to calm them, but this is very rare.
-
I've heard that you were a "high gore" or "shock haunt" attraction, is this true?
No! Our primary goal is to make the haunt enjoyable for all people; our next (and far more difficult goal) is making the haunt scary for all people! There is some mild gore, but nothing too graphic. There are many limitations on what we'll allow ourselves to do. There is no swearing or nudity at the forest. Specific Satanic (or similar) practices, symbols, or references are not permited (though we may make up our own symbols that really mean absolutely nothing ;). We also will not defame any religious icons, texts, etc. If you are concerned feel free to
contact us for more details.
-
So I can bring my kids?
You can bring pretty much whoever you want, but please remember that the Frightmare Forest is a scary place! Younger children may have a hard time realizing what is real and what is just a show, and can be influenced; possibly even for life. We do not recommend any children under 12 attend our event. All children are different, and because of this we will not enforce an age rule. In some cases we will escort out groups with an extremely terrified child. Most actors will try to tone down the show if there is a child present, but often times it's impossible to tell there is a child in the group until after they've done their scaring. The attraction does contain mild gore, and may contain mild violence.
-
I'm really scared! What if I want out?
Simply let any of our acting staff know. They are allowed to break character to show you the way out if you really, really want it. Security staff may be summoned to escort you if the actor cannot leave their place.
-
Are there coupons/discounts available to the attraction?
Yes! Coupons for discounted general admissions are available throughout the town, on our website, and with our sponsors. We also offer special rates for school, church, and other groups. As we move closer to October we will become more aggressive in our marketing campaign; and coupons will become more abundant. So keep in ear out, and an eye on the website to find out where we'll be next!
-
Do you offer press or complimentary passes to the attraction?
In previous years, we would indeed comp access for the press to the forest. Due to rampant abuse of that system, we are no longer able to offer these types of passes. Most reputable publications have budgets for this type of thing, so please check with your employer. Additionally, we feel that we get more accurate press coverage and reviews when we do not know you are reviewing the attraction. If you have questions, please feel free to contact someone at the ticket booth AFTER you have gone though the attraction. We are always happy to provide interviews or statements.
-
Are you handicapped accessible?
Yes! All of our pathways are at least 3 feet wide, and all ramps are easy to push a wheelchair up and down.
-
Is this the same as it was last year?
Not at all! One of our core values is changing as much as possible each year to deliver a new haunting experience. You will only see a couple of the same rooms from last year; and even those are done differently!
-
Is it as good as last year?
This year will be BETTER than last year. Every year is a huge step forward for us as our cast numbers grow, and our technology evolves. We are very excited about what we have to show you this October!
-
What if I lose my cell phone, keys, jacket, wallet, etc?
We ask that you hang on tight to all valuables, or leave what you can in your car. We will NOT close the attraction and send someone through looking for any lost items. If someone does happen to find them they can be picked up from the ticket booth the next night we are open. If you happen to lose your car keys we will be happy to provide you a phone to call for assistance or a ride.
-
Can I take pictures or videos?
Nope! There are many reasons for this, including that flash can temporarily blind our actors, it disrupts the experience of other guests, it slows down the line, and you may end up revealing things in the light that you didn't want to see to begin with. Taking pictures / video generally results in the "Big Mean Security Guards"
-
What if I want a refund?
Sorry, but we have a strict no refund policy. We operate on the same principals of a movie theater: you pay to see a show, regardless of the outcome. This generally has never been a problem but of course you get the rare jerk that just wants a free show.
-
Are you guys affiliated with Xavier?
No! Frightmare Forest is privately owned and operated by Frightmare Forest Productions, LLC.
